[rejected] ICMNS 2016: Multivariate analysis of limestone petrographic properties using R

Abstrak ini telah kami kirimkan ke Panitia ICMNS 2016. Podcast dalam Bahasa Indonesia akan kami bagikan untuk dapat memberikan penjelasan secara lebih rinci. Berikut ini podcast nya. Hasil review menyatakan bahwa makalah ini ditolak. Untuk itu kami akan mencoba mengemas ulang makalah ini sebagai satu kesatuan dengan makalah sejenis dengan obyek batuan gunungapi, yang diterima.

Limestone is one of the important commodity for construction industry. However we understand that limestones composition are varied due to their genetic processes. In this short paper we try to visualize the differences using R statistics packages. Code and dataset will be available in our online repository.

We loaded 130 petrographic samples consist of percentage of minerals from public domain dataset from the Center for Geological Survey. Samples were taken from three areas covered mostly with limestone: Panca tengah-Tasikmalaya, Cijulang-Ciamis, and Sindangsari-Ciamis.

According to our preliminary plots, we get two clusters: cluster 1 Panca Tengah with more plagioclase and glass mineral from mixing with volcanic materials and cluster 2 Cijulang and Sindangsari with more pure limestone origin.

Based on current results, we believe this method is potentially to be used as clustering technique for petrographic samples to support geological analysis.

Research interest: Hydrochemistry, multivariate analysis, and R programming My current focus is how to provide the hydrostratigraphy of volcanic aquifers in Bandung area. The research is based on environmental isotope measurement in groundwater and morphometry. My work consists of hydrochemical measurements. I am using multivariate statistical methods to provides more quantitative foundation for the analysis and more insight into the groundwater behaviour.
